Sexting behavior problems: a study on nude leaked in Angola

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the problem of sexting behavior in Angola, based on the analysis of intimate content leaked on the internet between 2020 and 2024. Methodologically, this is a qualitative study, exploratory in nature and retrospective in approach, based on the analysis of verbal and visual data from videos, photographs, and statements associated with intimate or sensual content disseminated on digital platforms. The data were analyzed using content analysis, with the support of qualitative analysis software, aiming to understand the meanings attributed by those involved to the practice of sexting and to the episodes of leaks. The results indicate that leaks of intimate content are strongly associated with gender dynamics, age group, and public visibility, highlighting greater vulnerability among young people, especially women at the beginning of their careers or withan active presence on social media. It is concluded that nude leaks are not merely a technical or individual problem, but a profoundly social, psychological, and cultural phenomenon, permeated by power relations, gender, trust, and ethics in technology-mediated interactions, in which the internet facilitates intimate practices that, when violated, result in processes of exposure and revictimization.
